Have I mentioned anything about Teh O Ais Productions?
If I haven't, then prepare yourself for some serious pimpin' time!
Teh O Ais Productions is a mini production house, designated by fellow Indonesian students in my college. I know I've mentioned somewhere in this blog that my college is a complete bloodsucking hellhole, but the production house itself is pretty cool. Of course, yours truly is one of its members, though I'm taking a break for the time being. But anyway!
The production house has been around for almost three years already. It has released a number of short films since its establishment, and now it's finally releasing its FIRST 95-minute feature film. Yours truly should be proud, because yours truly is one of the scriptwriters for this film. Tee hee.
Ladies and gents, Teh O Ais Productions proudly presents:
"I don't know what the hell it means but damn, that poster is something!" says you non-Indonesian speakers as you struggle to spit out the title from the tip of your tongues. "Well, pictures speak a thousand words," I reply wisely.
Say it with me: Kain Warna Warni. Cain Warn-uh Warn-ee. That's right. As for the English title, I'm not sure whether it's been officially announced yet, but here I will take the liberty to translate it literally as Technicolour Cloth.
Doesn't that just sound dreamy? It's like Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat. It's catchy. You can dance to it.
The film revolves around the theme of friendship, life, and choices; emphasizing on how different paths lead to a different kind of future, how each path is coated with different tastes of sadness and happiness. This is a story of how four high school best friends - Danur, Bella, Kirana, Lana - pick a destination for their reunion trip, along with the consequences that come along with it.
If you were to make a choice on the side of the road, where will you go: left or right? Or in Danur, Bella, Kirana and Lana's case: the mountains or the beach? You can choose, but you never know what may happen once you get there. Let's just see how this group of tight-knit friends overcome the obstacles they face. Will they crumble, crawl, or run towards the end with their heads held way up high? Kain Warna Warni is a two-part film, and here you will get to see the 'what-if's in both of their choices.
Kain Warna Warni will receive its first official screening in campus on May 8th, 2009.
